We are proud to announce that Giesen Roasting Solutions is a presenting partner of the first Alpine Roasting Championship, taking place at Alrighty Coffee Roastery in Munich from 9 to 11 October 2026. Twelve roasteries from across the Alpine region will each send one competitor. They will all roast the same green coffee. They will all work on identical Giesen 15 roasters, straight from our factory and calibrated daily. And their coffees will be judged blind.
Three machines, identically specified, identically calibrated, stations assigned by draw. One green lot, announced with its full specification and no samples in advance, so nobody arrives with a rehearsed answer. A jury of five, cupping blind, signing their sheets at the end of every round.
Three identical machines. No excuses.
That appealed to us for a simple reason: it is an honest test of roasting skill. A machine that behaves the same way in three different pairs of hands, day after day, is doing its job. We are happy to have our roasters judged on that.
There is one more part of the format we want to highlight. Every roast log and every reading is published once the competition concludes. Not just the winner’s; all twelve. That is unusual, and it turns three days of competition into a genuinely useful reference for anyone who wants to study how twelve experienced roasters approached the same coffee on the same machine, and arrived somewhere different.
Competitors arrive on 8 October, with a get-together at Alrighty Coffee Roastery at 16:00.
Day 1 — 9 October. Stations are assigned at 10:00. The calibration roast follows at 13:00, giving each competitor hands-on time to learn their machine before anything counts.
Day 2 — 10 October. The morning is spent cupping the calibration roasts at 09:00. The competition roast begins at 13:00, inside a 40-minute window.
Day 3 — 11 October. The jury cups blind at 10:00. The winner is announced at 14:00, and the full data set is published at the same time.
Entries are open to roasteries based in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France or Slovenia, with at least one year of production roasting experience and availability on-site from 9 to 11 October. One competitor per roastery.
Because there are only twelve places, they are not awarded first-come-first-served. All valid entries received by the deadline go into a random draw. Whether you roast 200 kilos a week or twenty tonnes a month, your entry carries the same weight. The €150 entry fee is only charged if you are drawn.

The venue is Alrighty Coffee Roastery in Munich. Chosen because it sits within a day’s drive of every Alpine roasting country, and because it has the space to run three competition stations properly.
