Change reducer gears W15

Reducer gears can wear down over time, and will need replacement.
This article will show you how to do this.

Be advised that this is a job that is not done in half an hour, and adjustment needs to be precise.

To start, you need to remove the cooling tray to get access to the driveshaft of the cooling tray arm

Now open the back door of the machine, and you'll see 4 motors, the lowest 2 are the roast fan and cool fan, the top one is the drum motor.
The middle one is the one we need as that is the motor that drives the cooling tray arm.

There is no real need to remove the insulated pipe, but if you think it helps, please do so.
For that you'll need to remove the roof first, then you can remove the insulated pipe.

The motor needs to be removed, and is mounted with 3 m8 bolts, and you'll need 2 10mm spanners to undo these bolts.

Once the bolts are removed you can slide of the motor. depending on how old the machine is it could be a little bit tight. Don't remove the motor mount!

When the motor is removed you need to undo the bearings under the coolingtray.
a W6 has 1 bearing that you have to loosen, a W15 has 2 that needs to be loosened.

When the bearing(s) are loose you can remove the shaft from the machine.
The bearing on the end of the shaft needs to come off, but mark the current location!
You will need to put it back in the same location as you took it off

The bearing is kept in place with 2 small allen bolts.

Once the bearing is off you can undo the allen bolt in the gear, again before you remove it mark it's location! and you can just slide it off. slide the new one on, and put it on the marked location of the old one.

As always, putting it back is the reverse of the removal.

The gear of the cooling tray is a lot easier.
Put the cooling tray on the ground or other flat service.
Undo, but not remove the bolt that keeps the arm in place

When loosened, you can just take off the arm by lifting it up.

Now lift the cooling tray from the surface it's put on and the driveshaft should stay in place, otherwise ask someone to take it out of the underside of the tray.
Be aware of the spacers, they are important! but remove them for now.

The gear there is kept in place with 1 allen bolt, undo it and you can slide it off.
Again, mark it's location!! the new one should be placed in exactly the same place.

Put all spacers back, and put the assembly back in to the tray.
Place the tray back on a flat surface, and put back the arm.

Once everything is put back together testdrive the coolingtray.
Make sure there is a bit of play between the gears, they will expand when they warm up so the need the space to expand. it will also increase the lifespan of the gears.

If there is too much play, put the small gear a bit more to the back of the machine, if there is to little play there will be a knocking sound, in that case you need to slide it a bit to the other side.
