Connect a G series roaster to Giesen Profiler 2 via Network or Bluetooth

Use this article to connect a supported G series roaster, such as G6 or G15, to Giesen Profiler 2. Choose Network or, if supported by your installation and machine, Bluetooth. Check live readings when finished.

Screen names are English and based on Profiler 2.3.3. Set up the connection outside an active roast.

1 Get ready

You need the correct roaster model, its actual serial number, a GiesenCloud account and internet on the computer for initial setup of the secure connection. Prepare the roaster according to its machine manual.

Use this roaster's serial number. For Bluetooth, Profiler uses it to identify the correct machine. A made-up number, another roaster's number or a custom connection name alone is not sufficient.

2 Choose your connection method

Choice What you need
Network The actual machine address and a network on which the computer can reach the roaster.
Bluetooth A supported Profiler installation and roaster, Bluetooth on the computer and the correct serial number. Initial setup needs internet on the computer; it does not require a network connection to the roaster.

You do not need to enter an IP address yourself for Bluetooth. Do not use a network address from a W series example. Profiler searches over Bluetooth for the machine matching the serial number you entered.

3 Add the roaster

  1. Open Settings → Connections and choose Add new. The configuration window may already be open after your first sign-in.
  2. Enter a recognisable name in Enter your roaster name.
  3. Enter the actual serial number in Enter your roaster serial number.
  4. Choose the correct model in Select the roaster model and the appropriate controller version in Select the PLC version.
  5. In Transport, choose Network or Bluetooth.
  6. For Network, check Address against your machine details. Change the suggested address if it is incorrect.
  7. Choose Save and follow the connection messages.

If you do not know the controller version or network address, ask Giesen Support to check the details using the model and serial number. The PLC version is not the Profiler version.

What you should see: after Save, Profiler attempts to connect immediately. The dashboard opens on success. Do not enable the new connection again; it has already been activated.

4 Check live readings

Compare bean temperature and other available readings with the machine. Check the units and wait for new readings. Only start your first recording once readings are arriving and match this roaster.

Ready: continue with Record your first roast.

Switch between Network and Bluetooth

Do this outside an active roast. Disable the existing connection first, open its configuration using Edit, choose the desired Transport option and choose Save. Profiler then attempts to connect through the selected route.

If the connection fails

What you see Next step
G6 or G15 is missing from model selection Use a Profiler installation that supports G series. Ask Giesen Support to confirm the correct installer for your computer; do not choose a W series model instead.
No Transport selection Check the selected model. This choice is intended for supported G series models; if unsure, check your installation's support with Giesen Support.
Bluetooth cannot connect Check the serial number, available roaster, Bluetooth on the computer and any requested system permission. Follow the specific message in Profiler.
Initial setup fails Check internet and sign-in on the computer. These are needed to prepare the secure connection.
Network connection fails Check machine address, network reachability and selected model/controller version.
Identification or authorisation message keeps returning Note the exact message and ask Giesen Support to check the machine and account registration.

For help, send your Profiler version, model, serial number, selected Transport and exact message to support@giesen.com. Also say whether this is initial setup or a connection that previously worked.
