Export roasts and share profiles in Giesen Profiler 2

Use this guide to create a readable roast report, export measurements for a spreadsheet, or make a saved profile available on another computer.

A roast is the recording of one batch. A profile is the reusable recipe or reference you load for a future roast. Choose the route below for the result you need.

Choose what you want to share

Your goal Use What the recipient gets
Send a readable roast report Export PDF A chart and the selected report sections.
Analyse measurements in a spreadsheet Export CSV Time columns and exported measurement values.
Use an existing profile or roast on another computer GiesenCloud sync Access to the saved record through the same account and team, where cloud storage is available.
Move your local library to a new computer The Windows or macOS transfer guide Instructions for checking a transfer or arranging a local backup.

PDF and CSV exports do not replace a complete backup. A PDF cannot be loaded as a profile. A compatible CSV can be imported as a profile with curves, but it does not preserve the complete original recipe.

Export a roast as PDF

  1. Open Roasts and select the saved roast you want to share.
  2. Wait for its curve and details to load. If the record is online-only, open it while you have internet access.
  3. Open Export → Export PDF.
  4. In Export options, choose the chart content and report sections you need.
  5. Select Export and save the downloaded PDF.
  6. Open the PDF before sending it. Check the roast name, chart, units and included information.

Choose useful export options

Option When to use it
Chart Content Select the available lines you want the recipient to see, such as Bean Temperature and Rate of Rise.
Show Chart Events Include available markers such as Turning Point, First Crack and End.
Auto (fit to roast) Fit the chart axes to the recorded roast. Start here if the curve is difficult to read.
Use Settings Use the chart axes from your Profiler settings.
Custom Set your own temperature, RoR and time ranges. Time values are in seconds.
Add Landscape Chart Add a wider chart page for easier viewing or printing.
Additional Data Choose the available details, events, setpoints, actions, notes and triggers to include.

The available chart lines depend on what was recorded. Selecting an option cannot add measurements or notes that are missing from the roast. Profiler remembers your PDF export choices, so review them each time; Reset to Defaults restores the default choices.

Before sharing outside your team, check the whole PDF for operator names, bean details, batch weights, notes and recipe information. The PDF details table summarises readings at 30-second intervals; use CSV when you need more frequent values.

Export roast measurements as CSV

  1. Open Roasts and select the saved roast.
  2. Wait for the curve and details to load.
  3. Select Export → Export CSV and save the downloaded file.
  4. Open it in a spreadsheet and check the time columns and measurement columns you need.

The CSV has a seconds column, a formatted time column and measurement columns such as beans, air, ror, power, speed or pressure, depending on the exported data. Rows use one-second time steps. Values can repeat the latest available reading and are rounded, so the file is not the original sensor stream.

PDF export choices do not control the CSV columns. The CSV does not include the complete event history, notes, triggers or recipe configuration.

If a spreadsheet opens the file in one column, import it as a text or CSV file and choose a comma as the separator. Numeric values use a decimal point.

Share an existing profile through GiesenCloud

Use cloud sync when you want the saved profile or roast to be available in Profiler on another computer.

  1. On the original computer, open Settings → Account and check the account and Team Name.
  2. In Cloud, enable Cloud Sync and select Apply Changes. Cloud storage must be available to your account.
  3. Open Profiles or Roasts, select Sync and check that the specific item shows Synced. For Local only items, follow the upload instructions in the cloud sync guide below.
  4. On the other computer, use the same account and team, enable Cloud Sync and run Sync in the relevant list.
  5. Find and open the item while online. Check its curve and details before relying on it offline.

For missing items, failed uploads or local-only records, follow Resolve cloud synchronisation problems in Giesen Profiler 2. A successful file download or local save does not confirm a cloud upload.

Can I reuse a CSV as a profile?

Yes. The current profile importer accepts compatible CSV files with a time column and at least one temperature column.

  1. Open Settings → Advanced. Under Import Profiles, select Import.
  2. Choose Select Files, select the CSV and choose Next.
  3. Read the preview and any warnings. If the status is Needs Mapping, select the cog icon (Configure column mapping) for that file and assign the time and temperature columns, then select Apply Mapping. For a Profiler export, seconds is elapsed time and beans is bean temperature.
  4. Leave Replace existing profiles with same name unchecked unless you intend to replace those profiles. Select Import and check the result for the file.
  5. Open the imported item in Profiles. Check its name, duration, temperature values and units before using it.

CSV import creates a profile from the mapped readings. It does not restore the original roast record, notes, events, triggers, setpoint instructions or roaster actions. Review and configure the profile for your roaster before using it for playback. Imported profiles are initially saved locally; check their sync status if you also need them in GiesenCloud.

CSV import does not automatically convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Verify the source units before using the imported curve.

Moving to another computer or making a backup

Use Transfer profiles and roasts on Windows or Transfer profiles and roasts on macOS. Keep the original computer and data until you have checked the transferred records.

If an export is missing or looks incomplete

Reopen the saved roast and check that its details are available. For PDF, check the selected chart lines, report sections and axis ranges. For CSV, check whether the measurements you need exist in the original recording.

If the problem remains, contact Giesen Support with your Profiler version, operating system, roast name and the exact error or missing information. Check the exported file for sensitive information before attaching it.
