Resolve cloud synchronisation problems in Giesen Profiler 2

Use this guide when a profile or roast is saved in Profiler but is missing from GiesenCloud or another computer, or when its status shows Pending sync or Sync error.

Saving on your computer and uploading to GiesenCloud are separate steps. A failed upload can leave a usable local record. First confirm that you can find and open the affected item, then check its sync status.

Check the sync status

Open Profiles or Roasts and hover over the icon in the Sync status column. If the column is hidden, open Columns and enable Sync status. A roast also shows its status below its name when you open it.

Status What it means What to do
Local only The item is stored on this computer and has no confirmed cloud copy. Check Cloud Sync and whether local-only items are included in uploads.
Pending sync A saved item or change is waiting to be uploaded. Check your internet connection and run Sync.
Sync error An upload failed. Hover over the icon for the available error text, restore connectivity and run Sync.
Synced Profiler has confirmed a cloud copy and the item is available locally. If it is missing elsewhere, check the account, team and search filters there.
Online — downloads when opened The cloud record is listed, but its full details are not cached on this computer. Open it while connected to the internet to download the details.
Sync conflict Local and cloud changes need attention. Follow the conflict guidance below and keep both versions until you have compared them.

Run the first checks

  1. Confirm that the affected profile or roast appears on the computer where it was created. Open it and check its curve and details.
  2. Check internet access on that computer. A connection to the roaster alone does not confirm access to GiesenCloud.
  3. Open Settings → Account. Check the signed-in account and Team Name. Use the same account and team when checking GiesenCloud or another computer.
  4. In the Cloud section, turn on Cloud Sync if you want to synchronise your profiles and roasts. Select Apply Changes after changing settings.
  5. Return to Profiles or Roasts and select Sync. Wait for it to finish, then check the affected item's status again.
  6. If Profiler asks you to wait before syncing again, wait for the displayed interval. Repeatedly pressing Sync does not bypass that wait.

Cloud storage must be available to your account for the Cloud Sync controls and Sync button to appear. If they are missing, check your team's access with its administrator or Giesen Support.

Upload items marked Local only

Turning on Cloud Sync does not by itself include every older local-only item in a bulk upload.

  1. Go to Settings → Account → Cloud.
  2. With Cloud Sync on, enable Upload local profiles and roasts if you want to include the records that exist only on this device.
  3. Select Apply Changes.
  4. Open Profiles and select Sync for profiles. Open Roasts and select Sync for roasts.
  5. Check the statuses of the items you need. A local-only item should show a confirmed synced state after a successful upload.

Profiler may ask Upload local profiler data? the first time you sync local-only records. Accept this only if you want those records uploaded to the selected cloud account and team. You can change the preference later in Account settings.

Recover from Pending sync or Sync error

Restore internet access, confirm that Cloud Sync is on and run Sync in the relevant list. This retries eligible pending or failed uploads; you do not need to create the profile or record the roast again.

Check the specific record after the sync finishes. A completion message can include skipped or failed items, so it does not prove that every record has uploaded.

If a roast reports that it was saved on this device but the cloud inventory could not be updated, check that roast's sync status and its cloud record before relying on the inventory totals.

If the status remains unchanged, record the displayed error and contact Support. Keep the existing local data while the issue is investigated.

Find an item missing from another computer

  1. On the original computer, confirm that the item has uploaded successfully.
  2. On the other computer, check the signed-in account and team, enable Cloud Sync and run Sync in the relevant list.
  3. Clear search text and active list filters, then look for the item's name and date.
  4. Open the item while online. An Online — downloads when opened icon means the details still need to download; it is not a missing-record error.

For a roast, use View in Giesen Cloud when available to check its cloud record directly. The presence of the button alone does not confirm that the latest upload succeeded.

Before relying on records while offline, open the ones you need while you have internet access and check that their full details are available.

Handle a local conflict copy

When Profiler detects that both the local and cloud versions have changed, it can preserve the local changes as a separate record with local conflict and a date and time in its name. The original record then takes the cloud version.

Open both records and compare the curve, setpoints and notes before choosing which one to use. The conflict copy is local-only when created. If you need it on another computer, check its upload preference and confirm its sync status after uploading.

Keep both versions until you have confirmed that the information you need is preserved. For future edits, let one computer finish syncing before editing the same record on another.

When to contact Giesen Support

Contact support@giesen.com if a record stays pending, repeatedly fails, has missing details or cannot be found after the checks above. Include:

  • Your Profiler version from Settings and whether you use Windows or macOS.
  • The profile or roast name, its date and the team name.
  • A screenshot of the sync status or exact error message.
  • Whether the record opens locally, appears in GiesenCloud and is visible on another computer.
  • Whether one record or several records are affected, and the steps you have already tried.

Moving to another computer

For computer migration and local backup instructions, use Transfer profiles and roasts on Windows or Transfer profiles and roasts on macOS. Keep the original computer and data until the transfer has been checked.
