Update Giesen Profiler and import legacy records

This article covers moving from legacy Profiler to the current application and updating an existing Profiler installation. Local use is included in the free Essential plan; cloud synchronisation and team features depend on your plan.

Before updating

Keep a backup and retain your old installation and records until you have checked the result. Confirm operating-system compatibility for the selected release. For data stored by a current Profiler installation, follow the Windows or macOS backup and transfer guide.

Install the correct release

1. Open GiesenCloud Downloads and sign in if requested.
2. Choose the release for your operating system and processor. If your Windows installation comes from the Microsoft Store, manage its updates through the Store.
3. Fully quit Profiler before installing an update. Reopen it and sign in to the correct account and team.

Import legacy Profiler JSON records

This import applies to old JSON records in the Giesen-Profiler/profiles and Giesen-Profiler/roasts folders. It is not a backup or transfer method for the current Profiler database.

1. Keep the original JSON folders and a separate backup.
2. In a Profiler installation that supports the legacy import, open Settings > Advanced.
3. Use the available actions in order: Migrate profiles, Migrate roasts, then Sync Filesystem.
4. Allow the import to finish. Compare the profile and roast lists with the old installation and open records to verify their details before retiring it.

Folder discovery and migration options depend on your version and installation type. If the folders or actions are missing, or records do not appear, contact Giesen Support before deleting or overwriting data.
